Position Details: Data Governance Engineer
Experience: 5+ years

What You Will Do:
• Governance Policy Management: Own development, versioning, and lifecycle of data governance policies (access, classification, retention, exceptions) using policy-as-code (OPA, AWS AVP/Cedar) integrated with CI/CD.
• Access Control & Security: Implement and audit RBAC, ReBAC, and ABAC models, including access reviews, segregation of duties, and privileged access controls.
• Data Contracts: Author and maintain data contracts (YAML/dbt) to ensure schema consistency, ownership, and SLA adherence.
• Metadata & Standards: Partner with metadata teams to define standards for metadata, glossary, ownership, and stewardship.
• Data Lineage: Define and drive implementation of end-to-end data lineage for auditability, impact analysis, and change management.
• Governance KPIs: Establish, track, and publish governance KPIs such as policy compliance, access reviews, and exception management.
• Tooling & Integration: Evaluate and integrate governance tools with platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, and dbt.
• Compliance & Regulations: Ensure alignment with data privacy and regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PII policies.
• Automation & GenAI: Leverage automation and GenAI tools for governance documentation, workflows, and exception handling.
• Documentation & Training: Maintain policy registers, SOPs, and provide training for governance practices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, security, legal, and product teams to enforce governance standards.

What You Will Bring:
• Experience: 5+ years in data governance, data management, security, or related domains.
• Policy-as-Code Expertise: Hands-on experience with OPA, AWS AVP/Cedar, and CI/CD integration.
• Governance Tools: Experience with tools like AWS Glue Catalog, Atlan, Collibra, Purview, or Alation.
• Access Control Knowledge: Strong understanding of RBAC, ReBAC, ABAC, and security frameworks.
• Data & Metadata Understanding: Deep knowledge of metadata management, lineage, and governance concepts.
• Cloud & Data Platforms: Experience with AWS (IAM, S3, Lake Formation, Glue), Snowflake, and data platforms.
• Programming & Querying: Proficiency in SQL, Python, GitHub, and SQL Server.
• BI & Reporting: Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.
• Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and data privacy standards.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
